Metus MAM has its own powerful transcoding engine itself. You can transcode your assets to almost every industry video profile, for the list for all supported formats, please see SUPPORTED FORMATS and PROCESSES

    • You can set Metus MAM to transcode your assets to one or multiple formats automatically while importing the files into MAM(for archival/library settings please see ADMINISTRATION)
    • You can transcode any asset already in MAM system manually from asset right click menu/transcode. Please see Asset Commands - 4.0.0.0
    • You can transcode any asset while exporting from MAM. Please see How to Retrieve / Export Assets - 4.0.0.0 for more information


You can create a new asset from the transcoded file, with name and target folder/bin information for the new asset. Or, you can attach the transcoded file as an attachment to the original asset.

In above scenarios, MAM will not change the original source file for the asset, but you may check change source file (MAM will change the source file of the asset with the new transcoded file) and keep both files, or you may also check delete source file to delete the original source file of the asset.

NOTE Also, you can trim and transcode the files, between Mark or Master In/Out points. Please see How to work with In/Outs - 4.0.0.0 for more information about In/Out points.

How to Configure Transcode presets

When you click Project- >Transcode Profiles->Audi/Video Transcode Profiles, MAM will forward you to transcode presets window, where you can choose among the preset profiles, leave them as they are or change the profile by configure the settings.

You can change the preset profiles by Save , or you can create new presets by Save As


 Once you are set with the profile, click OK. Metus Process Server will start to work, you can view the transcode progress in Progress Status tab (Ctrl + F9).

 

NOTE You can also use Carbon Coder transcoder fully integrated with Metus MAM, of course the software must be licensed separately.
