Admins can set the rules for operations to be done while importing files into MAM archive.

Where necessary, MAM will automatically create the storyboard and proxy for the asset, tag the asset with metadata templates, trim and transcode the file according to the pre-settings defined here while importing.

Archiving Options  - GENERAL

Storyboard

If you are archiving from a library project (some of your assets may already have a storyboard created by MAM) you can import the storyboards as well. For the others, you can set MAM to automatically create storyboards. For more information on storyboards, please see Storyboard Options

Or you can uncheck storyboard all together, means that all your archived assets will not have any storyboard

Proxy

If you are archiving from a library project (some of your assets may already have a proxy created by MAM) you can import the proxies as well. For the others, you can set MAM to automatically create proxies. For more information on proxy in Metus MAM, please see Proxy Options - 3.7.1.0

Or you can uncheck proxy all together, means that all your archived assets will not have any proxy.

Trim

If the asset is from a library project, you can archive only a part of it. MAM will cut the asset between In/Out points and create a shorter version in the archive. Please see How to work with In/Outs for more information about Mark and Master In/Out points.

Options

You can Automatically Archive Items to HSM Unit , if you have a tape drive attached to the system , which will archive everything in the project to tape.

You can Automatically Archive Proxies to HSM Unit, which will save the proxies of the assets in tape.

Delete Source Files after archiving will delete the source/original files after archiving/copying them into the central storage.

Index

Create Index will create indexes for archived assets, for frame matching. Please see Image Matching for more detail .

Archiving Options - TRANSCODE

You can transcode all your assets to be archived into one single video profile for future purposes. As Metus MAM has a powerful transcoding engine in itself, the process will be done seamlessly while archiving. You can set transcode profiles for Image , Sequence , Video and Audio files.  Also you can set overlay presets for transcoding assets ,first you need to create Overlay Presets . Please see Overlay Presets for detailed information.

If you need your assets to be transcoded to more than one video profile, you can use Batch Transcode feature. Please see Batch Transcode for more detail.

Archiving Options - METADATA

You have the option to also save file based metadata types to save into MAM database. These are grouped as Video, Audio, EXIF, IPTC, MP3 and Summary. You can see which fields are listed for each group by clicking on (question) at right.

We do NOT recommend this unless required by the workflow, because the database size increase is pretty significant when you save these metadata information

You can import metadata information from files automatically, while importing them to MAM database.

Normally these files are located in the same folder with the source files, but also any file located in a different folder than source file's folder can be parsed and added as metadata of an asset while it is being created.
