Storage System Requirements

Metus MAM supports NAS, DAS or shared SAN (with dedicated volume for MAM) storage. The IOPS, read/write speed and capacity depend on the requirements of the particular project. If OEM storage is to be used, the disks must be SAS, enterprise SATA, or enterprise nSAS. Use of standard desktop SATA drives is NOT recommended. For high bandwidth applications SSD or RAM cache is recommended.
For nearline storage, Metus MAM can use a wide variety of stand alone tape drives and libraries, connected by SAS or FC to the MAS server, or a dedicated tape server or appliance. Please check with us for the updated device support list. If tape storage is to be used in a MAM installation, there should be a physically separate disk or volume on the server or appliance that will be directly connected to the device, to act as cache volume.
