As stated before, when you create an archive project and archive your assets, the files are not accessible outside of MAM. When you need to use the source files in 3rd party applications, you need to Retrieve / Export to outside of MAM archive. Retrieve command will create a local copy of the file.

 Asset right click menu

You need to specify the target location for the retrieved file. You can also enter a ftp address, user name and password information for automatic upload.

You can check Override Archive Server and Pull File if you want to export the file even if Metus Archive Server is not accessible.

You have the options to also retrieve storyboard ( JPEG files in a folder), metadata (xml file) and proxy (low-res video of the asset)

If you check Only Proxy, then the hi-res file will NOT be exported.

You can define file naming format for the retrieved assets. Add the metadata fields you want to be in the name of the file by Add Field.

You also have the option to retrieve/export all or some of the attachments for the asset.

When you click OK, Metus MAM will create a copy of the asset(and other requested files) in the local folder, available for 3rd party applications.

You can also Trim and/or Transcode your assets while exporting;

You can export only a part of the file (between Mark or Master In/Out points) and you can transcode to any supported file while copying the file outside of the archive.

Retrieve to Library Project

You can also export assets from archive projects to library projects.

MAM will create the local copy of the source files (and other files if requested) in the folder you designated, and create the asset in the designated bin in a library project.

Trim and/or Transcode are also possible while retrieving assets to a library project.
